Andrew Faris (b. 1978, Akron, OH) is an artist based in the Teton Mountains of Wyoming. Influenced by his design background he aims for simplicity and impact through the bold use of color and composition, while embracing the spontaneity of water and paint on canvas. Hoping to elicit an emotional response while teasing the formal with flourishes and flairs of gesture and calling on the great power of abstraction to recollect and recall, questioning what it means to combine, be it colors, forms or ideas.
Biography
Faris grew up surrounded by the arts, his father a writer and his mother a teacher and an artist. Andrew received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees in 2003 from the College of Communication and Information at Kent State University in Kent, OH where he studied Visual Communication Design and Fine Art. Andrew co-founded Recess, a design studio in Venice, CA whose clients included Fortune 500 companies prior to focusing full-time on painting. Andrew’s work has been featured in New American Paintings, Architectural Digest, Poetry Magazine, American Scholar and Interior Design Magazine..
